Connolly Gallagher Employment Law Team Wins Favorable Jury Verdict for Employer
On January 16, 2014, Connolly Gallagher employment law attorneys, Timothy Holly and Mary Akhimien, won a jury verdict in favor of client, Independent School Management, Inc., following a four-day jury trial in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. ISM defeated plaintiff’s allegations that ISM had violated numerous employment law statutes, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Delaware Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Delaware Persons with Disabilities Employment Protections Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act. In a pre-trial motion for summary judgment, Tim and Mary won a ruling dismissing the majority of these claims. At trial, the jury announced a verdict in favor of ISM on the remaining claims after a brief deliberation. For a copy of the Court’s summary judgment decision, see Rumanek v.
